At the age of 2, Dr. Armen and his family immigrated to this country from Turkey. His first languages were Armenian and Turkish. A family friend who was a Chiropractor introduced him to Chiropractic. After a car accident and martial arts injuries, Dr. Armen struggled with persistent headaches and back pain during college, requiring frequent pain relievers. However, after just a few weeks of chiropractic care, his headaches and pain nearly disappeared.
These transformative results inspired his chiropractic journey.
After 4 years at Santa Clara University as a pre-med/ Combined Sciences major, Dr. Armen received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1999. He graduated Cum Laude from Palmer West College of Chiropractic in 2003. He later became certified as a chiropractic sports physician (CCSP), received his Diplomate in Rehabilitation (DACRB) and recently completed his Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine. During his final year in Chiropractic school, he began working with Dr. Matt and Mike Janzen (Chiropractors for Ultimate Fighting Champions, professional athletes/tri-athletes and Olympic medalists) and completed his preceptorship with Dr. John McDaniel (head of the Diplomate program in Chiropractic Sports Orthopedics and team doctor for many Mountain View schools) at Spinal and Sports Care Center in Mountain View. Working with the Janzens and Dr. McDaniel helped Dr. Armen hone his clinical Chiropractic and sports injury treatment and rehabilitation expertise. In his nearly 20 years of experience, Dr. Armen has worked with a wide variety of patients from adolescent and professional athletes, the geriatric population to little children, and people of all backgrounds and cultures.
Specialty Education
Dr. Armen started his career treating athletes of all backgrounds from MMA to Ironman. Certifying in ART in 2003, he realized the importance of proper soft tissue therapy in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments. In 2008, two years after starting his practice in Morgan Hill CA, he decided to advance his training by attaining his certification as a Chiropractic Sports Practitioner (CCSP) followed by completing a Diplomate in Rehabilitation (DACRB) in 2010, which combined adds up to more than 400 hours of addition specialty training. These advanced programs require intense training, education and testing and are highly revered in Chiropractic medicine circles. He continued pursuing training in multiple soft-tissue techniques such an osteopathic technique called Fascial Distortion Model, HansOn muscle therapy, myofascial decompression with cupping from UCSF, Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation (FAKTR), and Functional Range Release (FRR). Passionate about exercise and movement, he enhanced his assessment and treatment skills in the world of movement medicine becoming certified in the Functional Movement Screen, a screen used to identify movement asymmetries, running gait training from UCSF along with other movement assessments methodologies such as Functional Range Conditioning, Postural Restoration Institute, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, and Selective Functional Movement Assessment. After some family health challenges, he was led down the path of nutrition and functional medicine and completed a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine, which allows him to explore and address root causes of symptoms. Over time, he realized that most chronic issues have multiple causes including poor stress management, poor or improper diet, and dysfunctional movement patterns. This led him towards his current and active pursuit of certification as a functional medicine provider and nutritionist for the active population.
His vast 20 years of experience and the use of high-tech modalities used by the pros allows him to offer a unique therapeutic approach that is unrivaled in the South County. Therapies used in the office are also used by professional athletes and organizations from around the world including in the NFL, UFC, NBA, Olympics, NHL, Ironman, Tour D’France, MLB, the PGA, and more. Dr. Armen has an ethical and evidence-based treatment approach and always puts his patients first.
“I try to live and work by the tenets of competence, conscience, and compassion, putting my patients first, listening with intention and helping heal with skill and trust.”
